Field Trip: Fort Bema

For quite a few of us here at PCF, making games equals making worlds. Getting the wear and tear right for objects of a certain age, getting a feel for the history and story telling, looking how the sun looks when illuminated through foliage or reflected of certain surfaces. Flickr and youtube are good tools for getting references for stuff like that, but there is no better way to gather references than to actually leave the office and see the world. Every now and then we leave the safety of our studio and visit cool places. With cameras in hand we march on and I would like to share some of the photos we have taken with you guys.

Meat and Marriage

You know how people sometimes can bring cake, buns or cookies to work and offer to their friends? I love it when people do that.

Although, that’s not how real Polish men like Tomasz do it. He brings drinks and huge chunks of meat. I like that even more!

Firestarters

That's how you do it.

One of the things I did on Bulletstorm was to get people excited about stuff. When I didn’t manage to ignite any fire when telling about an idea or showing a gameplay prototype, it usually meant that stuff was crap and not worth pursuing.

Because of my role as the igniter, I was rarely able to experience a review of an idea I knew nothing about. It’s just logic: if I was to be surprised by any element of the game that would mean I’m not doing my job very well.
